A Brief Introduction

Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju!

As the famous proverb goes, an apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree that bears it; neither is the case of Dr. Bayo Adepoju (Ibarapa Kan). The introduction of this adage here is a way of saying that an offspring will, most of the time, display the behaviors, tendencies, and characteristics of the parents or, at the very least, exhibit the same type of reasoning, which may include being caring, and loving humanity.

My Paternal grandparents are Late Pa. Samuel Opadola Adepoju (Baba Pako) “meaning plank seller” and the late Mama Siyanbade Adepoju. Baba Pako was the last born of Odofin Adegunde; he hailed from the famous ile Jagun kojeko compound in Iberekodo Igboora, while the late Mama Siyanbade was from the famous Ile Ejegun compound in Oke-Iserin Igboora. Baba Pako was a trained carpenter and plank seller with a primary school education.

He was a trader in black soap and yam our; during his early years as a businessman, he exported black soap and yam four to Lagos. His early exposure to Lagos taught him the value of education, baba invested in his children and community by training all nine of his children to the best of his ability. Baba Pako was instrumental to many young people of Ibarapa descent at the time receiving western education. He was one of those who spearheaded the birth of Igboora High school, which has benefitted a lot of people even till today. Baba was converted to Christianity at an early age and was one of the foundation members of the Methodist Church Oke Agogo Igboora.

He was a very politically active member of the Ibarapa Local Council. He was a prominent chief who contributed immensely and in no small measure to the development of Igboora. In recognition of his activities, he was conferred with the title “Odofin of Iberekodo,” meaning the head of the kingmakers in Iberekodo.

One of the offsprings of Baba Pako, Dr. Amos Adepoju, has lived his entire life in service to humanity. Baba Amos Adepoju had his primary school education in Igboora before proceeding to Lagos for his secondary education at the Methodist Boys High School Lagos. He moved to the United States of America for his tertiary education; he is a scholar of international repute who rose to the position of the Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan. During his tenure as Rector, Baba Amos Adepoju was instrumental in admitting numerous sons and daughters of Ibarapa land into the citadel of learning. No stone was left unturned in ensuring our brothers and sisters got admitted and graduated from the higher institution.

The Year 2023 Peoples’ Democratic Party candidate for the House of Representatives, Dr. Adebayo Adepoju (Ibarapa kan), is an offspring of Dr. Amos Adepoju, who hails from the town of Igboora. Ibarapa kan, as famously called paternal roots, can be traced to the famous Jagun family of Iberekodo and his maternal to the Ejegun family of Oke-Iserin, Igboora, as stated above.

Born into an academic family, the sixth of eight children, I learned the importance and value of hard work early. Over the years, I have demonstrated a high commitment to success because of the understanding that productivity is never by accident; it is the incremental product of a high-level commitment to excellence, in-depth and futuristic planning, and the deployment of wisdom in decision-making.

My friends, teammates, and contemporaries know I am dependable, trustworthy, organized, and hardworking. I am an active and card-carrying member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and a staunch GSM follower with impressive professional, philanthropic, and academic credentials. I am an experienced political strategist, business manager, and project management professional that brings a lot of value to the ever-dynamic political landscape in Nigeria. I am the immediate past Chairman of the Water Corporation of Oyo state. Before my appointment, I had held several notable positions where I had been recognized and honored for my transformational leadership skills and overall impact on humanity locally and internationally. Some of the places I have worked include the Adegoke steel Industry Orita Challenge, Ibadan, Dish Network Denver, Colorado. Others are Crystal Technologies, Bank of America, and Clearview Networks, where I currently serve as chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

In the course of my sterling career, I have distinguished myself first as a family man, a technocrat, a project manager, an I.T. auditor, a scholar, and an expert in conflict centered around work and family, with several publications to credit

My Inspiration:

We all yearn for a better world; our quest in life drives the decisions we make; hoping and believing our thoughts, actions, and words motivate us and inspire the next person to join us on the same train. My innermost desire to run for office is based on the sincere conviction that making an effort is the surest way to make a change.

The teachings of the Holy Quran and the Holy Bible drive my thought process, the love for my community inspires me even to do more, and my upbringing and the lessons from my biological parents motivate me. At the same time, the experience and words of wisdom from our elders act as a guide/boundary that shapes the vision I dwell upon daily.

In one of the most famous quotes of the Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, he says, “After rain comes sunshine; After darkness comes the glorious dawn. There is no sorrow without its alloy of joy; there is no joy without its mixture of sorrow. Behind the ugly, terrible mask of misfortune lies the beautiful soothing countenance of prosperity. So, tear the mask!”

It’s time for a better tomorrow and a promise of hope for our people.
